I AM BENIN
Ian’s roots stem back to Benin, Africa, the place his father called home. Ian is a Beninese /French citizen and he launched the I AM Benin Basketball Camp in 2017 for the youth in Benin. Ian partners with the Benin Basketball Federation to host yearly camps in his native country, to develop future leaders and invoke hope that each child says “I AM possible of achieving my own goals”.

Ian Mahinmi I AM Foundation have traveled to Cotonou, Benin three consecutive years with the fourth year being postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19.

• I AM BENIN 2017– Travels included: Cotonou & Village of Cove’ to meet with King.

• I AM BENIN 2018-Travels included:  Cotonou & Village of Ganvie (village built on stilts)

• I AM BENIN 2019– Travels included: Cotonou & Village of Cove’ to meet with King.

• I AM  BENIN 2020– Postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19

Ian has big dreams for the Beninese youth and hopes to one day launch an athletic resource center for youth to provide a space for the community youth to learn leadership, the value of service and important life skills through basketball and other sports.
